One of the things I love about baseball is that every time you watch a game the chances are good that you'll see something you've never seen before. This list of quirky rules reminds me why "Pitchers and catchers report" is one of my favorite expressions.

A piece of rock'n'roll history-- Mike Huckabee's pardon of Keith Richards.

I was just as glad to be watching it on television, but I thought the Ice Bowl (or whatever it was called) was a quality sports event. Because it is the NHL they will probably not follow through with it, but it seems to me that with a little effort hockey could own New Years Day. My first thought was that there probably aren't that many venues that could host the thing, but if you take into consideration baseball stadiums all of a sudden a lot more cities start looking good. It looked like the sightlines at Ralph Wilson Stadium were pretty bad, but I'll bet they'd be great at Solder Field, or the new Yankee Stadium. You'd have to do it with the roof open in Toronto, but you could certainly fill the Skydome.

Buffalo could have used the two points, but the city came off well, I think.
