9,773 finishers at the Boilermaker(out of 11,405 registered). The chip timing system failed, which is a drag. 177 "contacts" with the medical crew, during and after, said to be the best ever. Five people went to the hospital, four were discharged Sunday, and the fifth was expected to be released Monday.

There were five women who will be running in Bejing at this year's race: Rabo Kasim, from Ethiopia, won, beating four-time winner Catherine Ndereba (Kenya) by a second. Former Geneseo State star Melissa White was the second US woman this year, with a 53:11.

Oh, and although Governor Patterson came in ahead of us, we totally own him over the marathon: Paterson ran the New York City Marathon in 1999 and finished in 6 hours and 6 minutes.
