A perjury indictment for The Rocket! I'd have guessed that Barry Bonds was going to be the Pete Rose of the steroids in baseball scandal, but maybe not. Or maybe there'll be a Mount Rushmore of these guys, with Mark McGwire joining Clemens and Bonds. We'll need a fourth if that's how it's going to go. Sosa? Papi? Palmeiro?It is interesting that PEDs may end up destroying more reputations than the cocaine scandal of the 80's. The Pittsburgh trials are probably what's keeping Dave Parker out of the Hall of Fame, but Tim Raines was forgiven. Of the players implicated in PED use I'd say that only A-Rod will receive similar deference. I suppose that might be because the use of performance enhancing drugs implicates the accomplishments of the players, but it seems to me that people are a lot angrier about doping than is proportionate.
